Panasonic HS60 - Panasonic HD Camcorder
The HS60 camcorder's main advantage over the SD60 is it's internal memory - an 120 GB HDD, which eliminates the need for inserting other media storage formats. Having said that, this model is a hybrid, so you can use an SDXC, SDHC, or SD Memory Card for storing your videos. It records in Full-HD 1920 x 1080 quality, but it also has Intelligent Resolution Technology and is equipped with Crystal Engine Pro, which means that it exceeds the standard, by eliminating colour smear.
The lens is wide angle which makes a marked difference in both frame composition, and filming in poor light conditions, allowing you to create videos that appear more professional and dramatic (just think about the difference it makes when a film at the cinema is shown in wide screen). It has a 25x optical zoom, which is a huge advantage over camcorders with digital zooms (image quality is lost with digital zoom). The model has face recognition, and it can even 'remember' faces, and the camcorder can 'pick' these faces from a close crowd, and focus on them, which in certain circumstances, such as weddings, can be exceptionally handy. With its high quality imaging and advanced features, the HS60 is not a cheap camcorder, but, with this amount of technology in a handycam it would be a concern if it was any cheaper.

Panasonic HS60 - Review
Purchased this camcorder in March 2010 after a long trawl through the various web sites trying to determine which was the best buy for my money (it was approx £100 cheaper at Amazon compared to High st retailers). Torn between SD and HD technology, I finally decided it was worth chancing a HD version.
The HS60 has loads of features and I have to say, all play their part making filming easier under various shooting conditions. I am not a professional at filming, but found this fairly straight forward to use. The still shot quality is very good providing 2+ Megapixels and the 120Gb hard drive is very useful providing ample recording time. The quality of recording is also very good and after working out how to edit the movies I have taken, I have to say I am impressed!
Only consideration for me was the software that is enclosed with the HS60 (AE Writer) is specifically for Windows operating systems (I have a MAC) so you need to ensure you have at least iMovies 8 or 9 for the MAC. All in all this is very good value for money, feature rich and has already surpassed expectations. I would recommend the HS60. By Dave W (UK)
